It is recorded that woman was taken from the flesh of the man. Perhaps the "returning" is to return to the state of being one, instead of the expanse. In the Urtext of ACIM, Jesus suggests the fleshy body was placed here by the ego to emphasize the error of separation from God and that eventually our energy/spirit identities will no longer desire them. That may be a long way off, but it is a possibility. imho
