My thoughts* on ACIM Urtext Lesson 277 for 4 October 2023.
I Thought I was a Liar if I Didn’t Try to Break Out of My Ego Roles, Maybe I Was Wrong
Let me not bind Your Son with laws I made.
* I want to know that the Son of God is perfect and not the costume that he wears in ego.
1. Your Son is free, my Father.
²Let me not imagine I have bound him with the laws I made to rule the body.
* There is no ‘ownership’ of the Son of God. We each belong to God and none else, as a whole.
* I do not want to put society’s opinion on anyone if it makes them different or separate from me.
* I do not want to put tradition or religious opinion on anyone if it makes them different or separate from me.
³He is not subject to any laws I made by which I try to make the body more secure.
* If we truly want to look at this ‘all laws’ including those that we believe pertain to the physics of this world need to be released from our minds that we might be guided by the Holy Spirit to what our true identity is.
⁴He is not changed by what is changeable.
⁵He is not slave to any laws of time.
* No, but this does not mean that in the world of ego that we can do without law. The Holy Spirit will guide us to that place but only once we have forgiven the Son of God and given our eyes and ears over to Him.
* Karma is a ‘law of time.’ It affects the future according to the past. This is NOT an eternal principle.
⁶He is as You created him, because he knows no law except the law of love.
* At this time, this is beyond our comprehension. That does not make it untrue.
2. Let us not worship idols, nor believe in any law idolatry would make to hide the freedom of the Son of God.
* Idols are those human beings that we have placed before God in our attention radar. We would listen to people or opinions instead of to God.
* This is doable without altering dramatically our behavior in the egoland that we find ourselves currently in. This is a matter of belief INSIDE ourselves. So that we are claiming our truth.
* In other words, you can still play out your roles in any ‘hat’ that you wear and understand that these ‘roles’ are not you nor do they have any eternal or permanent claim on you or WHO you are.
²He is not bound except by his beliefs.
* Belief in God alone gives one freedom. All other illusions and manifestations of the ego must be at the mercy of the Holy Spirit so that we may become as God created us once more.
³Yet what he is, is far beyond his faith in slavery or freedom.
* The Holy Spirit alone is able to take us where we want to be.
* We do not need to look to a person outside ourselves to lead us to our truth.
** This is important: You do not need to feel that you are betraying your truth by submitting to current ‘roles’ according to your present situation, circumstance, and culture. What you want to do is allow the Holy Spirit to move through you from within the forgiving atonement of the belief in separation. There is no shame to be had in continuing your roles for a time. Understand that you are a light of truth within a matrix or paradigm that sees itself as other than it is. It is not a lie.
** What I mean is that you are not living a lie by playing your role(s) within the matrix/paradigm of the ego. In fact, you are honoring a sacred commitment to the Son of God and to the Father by remembering them while still in the flesh and blood manifestation of the ego paradigm.
** God is bigger than any form of guilt that the ego would like to put upon you. Lean into the peace and rest that the witness of the Holy Spirit has provided you. And KNOW that you do not walk alone but with All That IS and the Father, Himself.
** No one needs to know what you believe except you and Father. All others are in a state of confusion and if they are not, they understand who you are without explanation.
⁴He is free because he is his Father’s Son.
⁵And he cannot be bound unless God’s truth can lie, and God can will that He deceive Himself.
* I choose to believe in God above all else.
* God IS.
* THIS is MY FOUNDATION.
* There does not need to be a war to give anyone the right to believe in what is real. It simply needs to be understood within.
* God will take care of everything else as I accept the instruction and expression of the Holy Spirit through me without concern or judgment.
