My thoughts* on ACIM Urtext Lesson 285 for 12 October 2023. The Holy Spirit MUST Become My Eyes and Ears

Esoteric spirituality will not serve this sphere.

My holiness shines bright and clear today.

* It sounds like my focus will be primarily on my being in the Presence of God.

1. Today I wake with joy, expecting but the happy things of God to come to me.

* How often have we trained ourselves to speak in negatives to ourselves? This is a good reminder to me that I want to catch myself when something like that happens.

²I ask but them to come, and realize my invitation will be answered by the thoughts to which it has been sent by me.

* Two points here. One, I will only invite pleasant things into my life and two, I get to create this in me.

* This makes me wonder at which level this is being addressed. In the level of REALITY, there is nothing but pleasantness. In the level of error, IE in the sphere I currently exist as a body, there are corrections that must be made due to the original error ~ even though True Forgiveness has been applied to the Original Error of belief in the possibility of separation from God.

* Either way I may choose to respond to any situation as if it is a gift and pleasant expression of God’s Love. For example, the situation of the mistreatment I received in the ambulance when I broke my leg was unpleasant and I have had to sort it through for nearly two years now. However, I see the incident as a gift that I chose so that I might be able to write about the very type of things that the Holy Spirit would like to see us address at this time.

* It is a bit of “double vision” or is it “double existence?” I could be seen as dissociation from the perspective of the ego. HOWEVER, from the perspective of one who walks in the witness/knowledge of the Atonement, I feel grateful to participate in the Great Plan of Redemption that will bring the Mind of Christ fully into cognitive awareness that He is cared for within the Mind and Will of God, and that no harm can befall him.

* It is the Holy Spirit that gives me the ability to see both because this is what HE sees by knowing both the Mind of God AND the confusion of the Son.

* The ego can only reject completely any thought of pleasantness that applies to the Whole Sonship in any situation because it does not believe in our right to exist in the first place and actually seeks our demise if by no other means than our death.

* Jesus is seeking in this lesson to help Helen and Bill to believe that pleasant outcomes and that joy is a valid form of existence.

³And I will ask for only joyous things the instant I accept my holiness.

⁴For what would be the use of pain to me, what purpose would my suffering fulfill, and how would grief and loss avail me if insanity departs from me today, and I accept my holiness instead?

2. Father, my holiness is Yours.

* My holiness. All that I am. My life, my essence, my connection with All That Is is God’s. My love, could not be mine alone (separated) either. My Love is God, the Father’s.

²Let me rejoice in it, and through forgiveness be restored to sanity.

* That forgiveness that Helen and Bill never quite understood needed to take place ONLY at the beginning of the problem. The rest of the results are not seen as sin or even real, but they are seen as errors that DEMAND correction on the level with which they were experienced within the confused mind of the Son of God.

* Correction cannot happen if we are afraid of them or take them as real or even if we take matters into our own hands and meet out what punishment we feel is justified. We are NOT to JUDGE. We are to let the Holy Spirit do this and the Son is ALWAYS INNOCENT and in need of correction and letting go of barriers to love.

* When we deny any form of suffering ON THIS LEVEL we are denying fear and this is a defense that negates the fear (and really is a form of gaslighting because it tells you that you do not feel what you feel) and it is a miscreation that makes space for fear promoting behaviors to manifest.

³Your Son is still as You created him.

⁴My holiness is part of me, and also part of You.

⁵And what can alter Holiness Itself?

* Photo: the Holy Spirit becomes the eyes and ears with which I experience the world. It allows me to be able to see through any false impressions the ego manifests and see God in All That Is.
