My thoughts* on Manual for Teachers (ACIM) #20 Healing Cannot Be Repeated *Once and Done IN GOD

7. Should Healing Be Repeated?

1. This question really answers itself.

²Healing cannot be repeated.

³If the patient is healed, what remains to heal him from?

⁴And if the healing is certain, as we have already said it is, what is there to repeat?

⁵For a teacher of God to remain concerned about the result of healing is to limit the healing.

* I think that this is important as we move along as teachers of God.

* I am learning how to not look forward and to not look backward as I do my best to stay present in what I am doing and let Father, Jesus, and SPIRIT take care of everything else.

* I feel like I am driving a stagecoach, not that I have ever been on a stagecoach in my lifetime, but the idea of paying attention to the task at hand seems relevant. I do not have the energy or means to be looking anywhere besides exactly where SPIRIT directs me. And I find if I meander off on some whim SPIRIT makes it real clear that I want to get back on track.

⁶It is now the teacher of God himself whose mind needs to be healed.

* I will boldly say that I do not believe that this concept was scribed correctly.

⁷And it is this he must facilitate.

⁸He is now the patient, and he must so regard himself.

⁹He has made a mistake, and must be willing to change his mind about it.

¹⁰He lacked the trust that makes for giving truly, and so he has not received the benefit of his gift.

* To begin with a teacher of God does not heal in form because form in the illusion is still illusion. What is being healed is the psyche of those who believe they have found themselves separated from God.

2. Whenever a teacher of God has tried to be a channel for healing he has succeeded.

²Should he be tempted to doubt this, he should not repeat his previous effort.

³That was already maximal, because the Holy Spirit so accepted it and so used it.

⁴Now the teacher of God has only one course to follow.

⁵He must use his reason to tell himself that he has given the problem to One Who cannot fail, and must recognize that his own uncertainty is not love but fear, and therefore hate.

* This sentence shows the lack of understanding on the part of the scribes and editors of the Course. HATE does not show up in any vocabulary of the teacher of God because HATE is NOT a part of GOD, EVER.

⁶His position has thus become untenable, for he is offering hate to one to whom he offered love.

* untenable, (especially of a position or view) not able to be maintained or defended against attack or objection: “this argument is clearly untenable”

⁷This is impossible.

⁸Having offered love, only love can be received.

* The “hate” suggested here is simply the idea of separation that has been applied with the idea that the healing may not have occurred and needs to be repeated. Hate is much too strong of a word, though it may have been thought of as the opposite of love.

* What Jesus was identifying was the lack of understanding of God’s Existence as ALL THAT IS and His Omniscience (all-knowing) Omnipotence (Complete Power).

* Helen, Bill, and Ken were not able to wrap their minds around the fact that the ONLY THING JESUS WAS GIVING US was a witness of the REALITY of God the One Original and Universal Creator and Father to us all.

3. It is in this that the teacher of God must trust.

²This is what is really meant by the statement that the one responsibility of the miracle worker is to accept the Atonement for himself.

* Cha-ching! Without understanding that the Atonement was something that we were to enter while in body here and now NOTHING in the Course makes ANY SENSE at all, even though it can be used by the ego to create another illusion of non-existence within the illusion of the belief in separation from GOD.

³The teacher of God is a miracle worker because he gives the gifts he has received.

⁴Yet he must first accept them.

⁵He need do no more, nor is there more that he could do.

* I like that last part, “nor is there more that he could do.”

* The Atonement is SIMPLY forgiving ONE ERROR, forgetting to laugh at the idea of separation from God. Then one may SEE God, the One Original and Universal Creator and Father of us ALL Who Directs us by SPIRIT within us.

* The ONLY THING the teacher has is a witness of FATHER, WHICH IS ALL THAT THERE COULD BE.

* This is what we share and what changes the world and “means the world” to us!

⁶By accepting healing he can give it.

⁷If he doubts this, let him remember Who gave the gift and Who received it.

* “Who” gave the gift is GOD, the Father and “Who” received it is a part of Christ, His Son.

⁸Thus is his doubt corrected.

⁹He thought the gifts of God could be withdrawn.

¹⁰That was a mistake, but hardly one to stay with.

¹¹And so the teacher of God can only recognize it for what it is, and let it be corrected for him.

* “Can only” suggests that the teacher of God had done something on purpose or wrong and what we are missing here is the fact that we are all teachers of God at all times, no matter which side of the right and wrong-minded range we stand. And that this particular section is addressed to one who has not accepted the Atonement, as yet or does not understand what it is.

4. One of the most difficult temptations to recognize is that to doubt a healing because of the appearance of continuing symptoms is a mistake in the form of lack of trust.

* Which be a lack of TRUST in GOD’s Existence as we discussed in earlier sections.

* The phrase “One of the most difficult temptations to recognize” is actually comical because these people did not believe in God. It truly is a miracle that we were able to get the Course as intact as we have it! And I do mean miracle as acknowledging the Presence of God.

²As such it is an attack.

* Doubt is the attack because it denies God’s Reality.

³Usually it seems to be just the opposite.

⁴It does appear unreasonable at first to be told that continued concern is attack.

* Concern for others is love, right? Hmm. Not really. Whoa!

⁵It has all the appearances of love.

⁶Yet love without trust is impossible, and doubt and trust cannot coexist.

* Here is the difference between ego-love and God Who IS Love.

* That may not sit very well with the many students of the Course who have taught LOVE without acknowledging Father. Or that think that we as the Son have Love that can be extended without the Father.

⁷And hate must be the opposite of love, regardless of the form it takes.

* Hate is simply not acknowledging God, and it denotes a wish for death on the self and all else, just as God gives Eternal Life to Himself and All That Is.

* This is why I am adamant about the idea that “hate” not be a part of a believers vocabulary.

⁸Doubt not the gift (*Who is God, our Father.) and it is impossible to doubt its result (*Perfection and Abundance).

⁹This is the certainty that gives God’s teachers the power to be miracle workers, for they have put their trust in Him.

* And they BRING HIM to anything they attempt to do or engage with.

5. The real basis for doubt about the outcome of any problem that has been given to God’s Teacher for resolution is always self-doubt.

* Don’t for a moment believe that YOU are to resolve ANYTHING. Your responsibility is to stand as a witness of Christ and His Father, period. In that confidence you give all that anyone could need or that truly is.

²And that necessarily implies that trust has been placed in an illusory self, for only such a self can be doubted.

³This illusion can take many forms.

⁴Perhaps there is a fear of weakness and vulnerability.

⁵Perhaps there is a fear of failure and shame associated with a sense of inadequacy.

⁶Perhaps there is a guilty embarrassment stemming from false humility.

⁷The form of the mistake is not important.

⁸What is important is only the recognition of a mistake as a mistake.

* This is what this section is all about.

6. The mistake is always some form of concern with the self to the exclusion of the patient.

* The “teacher of God” is being seen as a psychotherapist by the one scribing or editing this section as noted by the use of the word “patient.”

* Therefore, I would translate this by SPIRIT to say, “The mistake is always some form of “separation of the self” from whatever they are engaging with.”

* Engaging with “anyone else or any situation, circumstance, or ideology” would have the same concern. In other words, we ARE to be HYPER-AWARE OF SELF BECAUSE WE ARE PART OF THE WHOLE CONSCIOUSNESS.

²It is a failure to recognize him as part of the Self, and thus represents a confusion in identity.

* It is like Edward in Twilight, not trusting his ability to not drink the blood of Bella. Having all that power as a “killing machine” and seeing mating and eating as his highest accomplishments being trapped there instead of identifying with the Original Universal Creator and allowing HIM to Guide him on to Existence IN the Father and beyond the Volturi.

* Ok, for some reason it has broken and I am able to type lowercase here as well.

³Conflict about what you are has entered your mind, and you have become deceived about yourself.

* I have to tell you that #1 I recognize whoever is messing with my computer or my health is ME, not lowercase “d” debi but me as a part of Christ AND I know that it is only done in the confusing delusion of belief in separation from God. Onward.

⁴And you are deceived about yourself because you have denied the Source of your creation.

⁵If you are offering only healing, you cannot doubt.

* There is NO ROOM FOR IT. Even though all of these other goofy things are going on!

⁶If you really want the problem solved, you cannot doubt.

⁷If you are certain what the problem is, you cannot doubt.

⁸Doubt is the result of conflicting wishes.

⁹Be sure of what you want, and doubt becomes impossible.

* Bottom line? GOD IS, GOD IS, GOD IS, GOD IS, GOD IS. Do you see a pattern here?
