“Positive Thinking” Alone Will Not Set Us Free

Only acknowledging God and our reliance on Him will set us free.

I think that positive thinking can camouflage terror and keep us away from recognizing our reliance on and relationship with God. It can become another mask we wear.

Helplessness and terror are a part of human existence on this planet as we understand it today even with all of our technology and “modern”/”civilized” ways. 9/11 is a powerful example that reverberates around the globe.

I have a little song I sing; “If it were up to me it would be peace I see all around the world.” repeated four times like a mantra. It reminds me that the expression of the world around me is something that I am intrinsically connected to and responsible for which is a good portion of what I suspect Jesus is trying to teach us in ACIM.

I find myself in a sort of stupor sometimes like I have been punched in the gut when I have to leave yet another Zoom meeting early because God and Christ really are not welcome there, only a pretense of Them and us. Or when Facebook puts me “on restriction” because I said I have love and forgiveness in my heart for those who most look at as only causing harm in the world.

I do not let myself be attached to those emotions though because I know the whole situation is not real and is a response to the fear and guilt that believing we are separated from God and one another has brought about. That does not mean that the emotions do not pass through me.

All the while I rest on the Holy Spirit and do my best not to judge myself or others and trust that Jesus, along with the others who are taking care of the Universal Plan, the Holy Spirit, and Father are taking us right where we need to be. In the meantime, I can know I am in Heaven within the arms of the Creator and that harm and death are not part of God’s Will for His Son.

“If it were up to me why we would all be free, all around the world.”

“If it were up to me it would be peace I see, all around the world.”

“If it were up to me why we would all be free, all around the world.”

“If it were UP to ME it would be PEACE I SEE, all around the world.”

Till next time, God bless, debi.
