To think movies are meant to entertain is rather naïve, understandably so because of our indoctrination, but still naïve, imho.

Acting and art is a way to share with the world an individual's or groups perception of life or any of its many components.

To watch a program without realizing you are being given a particular perspect, even a religion if you will is to turn over the direction of your own choices and will to the creator of the program. Because it is our perspectives from which we take action, thus creating our world and we either direct that by accepting our divine authority through the *Atonement, and accepting our relationship with God and one another, or turn those decisions over to fiction by means of perspectives and not truth.

*Atonement, in my mind, consists of forgiving the error of belief in separation from God and all its results. This aligns us not only with God but with each other.

This is where the Holy Spirit comes in because it is the Holy Spirit or inner voice, intuition, etc that "sees" life from a "higher level" and can guide us individually through our experience in the world. You are your own authority because of your divine connection to the Creator of the Whole.
